Glenn Alvin VergasonJanuary 19, 1930 ~ June 10, 2017 (age 87)
Glenn A. Vergason, 87, of Bradenton passed away June 10, 2017. He was born January 19, 1930 in Bartow, FL. He is predeceased by his son, Lee, his brother Warren, & his sister Jan. He is survived by his loving wife BJ of 65 years; his 3 children & spouses, Linda & Ray, Ralph & Connie, Lynne & Tony; 5 grandchildren, David, Shannon, Matthew, Kristen, Megan; & 2 great-grandsons, Trevein & Kylen.
Glenn and BJ moved to Atlanta, GA in 1965 and remained at their family farm until 2000, where they later moved to Holmes Beach, FL and spent ten years on beautiful Anna Maria Island. Glenn and BJ became residents of Freedom Village in 2010.
Glenn received a Bachelor's and Master’s from FSU then received an Ed.D in Special Education from George Peabody College. He began the Department of Special Education at Georgia State University and was Chairman for 10 years. Glenn dedicated 40 years to Special Education. He retired as Professor Emeritus of Georgia State University with many awards for Distinguished Alumni and Who’s Who. Glenn authored books and published numerous articles on Special Education. He held positions on the Council for Exceptional Children and other Special Education committees.
A celebration of Glenn’s life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday June 17th, 2017 in the Auditorium at Freedom Village.
