Martin Joseph KnudstrupNovember 27, 1948 ~ August 17, 2017 (age 68)
Martin (KP) Knudstrup passed away after a brief but courageous battle with cancer at Manatee Memorial Hospital on August 17, 2017 in Bradenton, Florida at the age of 68.
KP is survived by his wife Darinda Suggs Knudstrup, his children Kristina (Gary) Masengale of Bradenton, FL and Joey (Tiffany) Knudstrup of Bradenton, FL, his grandchildren Levi, Connor, Dylan, and Taylor and his brother Mike Knudstrup, of Jacksonville, FL. He is preceded in death by his parents Martin and Clara Knudstrup of Bradenton, FL.
KP was born on November 28, 1948 in Owosso, Michigan and moved to Bradenton when he was five years old. He graduated from Manatee High School in 1967. He spent three years serving in the United States Army as a MP before moving back home to Bradenton, FL where he began his career with GTE phone company. He married Darinda Suggs Knudstrup in 1979. Over 39 years, the couple welcomed 2 children into their home and now have 4 grandchildren. His children remember him as a kind and loving father who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
KP was accomplished at many things including fishing, cooking, golfing, and photography. He was a generous individual who would help anyone who asked and who was passionate about living life to the fullest.
A Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Monday, August 21, 2017 from 5 - 7 PM at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, 720 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton, FL. A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 10am at the funeral home, with a graveside service to follow at Bethany Baptist Church. Pastor Norma Bronson will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate KP’s life. The family would like to specially thank all of the staff at Manatee Memorial Hospital who assisted in his care for their efforts, care, and dedication.
