Melissa (MaGirl) BouwerApril 17, 1970 ~ August 30, 2017 (age 47)
Melissa MaGirl Bouwer, 47, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017, at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton, Fla., from complications resulting from breast cancer.
She was born April 17, 1970, in St. Louis, Mo. She is survived by her husband, Renier, daughter Taylor, and son James, all of Bradenton, Fla. Also surviving are her father, James (Janet) MaGirl, formerly of Bloomington and now of Cape Coral, Fla., and her birth mother, Ginger McLit, of Bradenton, Fla.
Other survivors include two sons in Illinois, Calvin Carter, Muncie, and Christopher Waters, Bloomington, and two half-brothers, Evan (Kristi) Gibbons, Normal, and Andy (Meghan) Gibbons, Downers Grove.
Melissa was a chosen baby of James and Barbara (deceased) MaGirl from the Baby Fold in Normal when only a few weeks old. When she reached school age, she understood she was adopted. At age 25, she found her birth parents and was embraced by her mother and four siblings. She would laugh and say her family tree was more of a bush.
All branches of her family deeply miss her. Arrangements were handled by Griffith-Cline Funeral and Cremation Services in Bradenton, Fla. The family suggests contributions go to breast cancer research.
