Roscoe "Rocky" Blodgett Brown

September 14, 1943 ~ September 25, 2017 (age 74)

Roscoe (Rocky) Blodgett Brown passed away Monday, September 25, 2017 at 2:32 a.m. with his wife Twink and close friend Fran with him.

Roscoe was born September 14, 1943 to Richard and Mabel (Clamage) Brown in Detroit, Michigan.

The family moved to Bradenton in 1954.

At the age of 18 Rocky joined the Air Force and was stationed in Valdosta, Georgia.

After being discharged, Rocky was a game warden in Sumpter County, Florida.

In 1968 Rocky joined the Longboat Key police department.  He enjoyed his work, the people he worked with, and the residents of Longboat.  Rocky earned many certificates relating to the law enforcement field.  He taught at the academy on many subjects.  He also earned his captain’s license in the air and on the sea.

He was well-respected and admired in his field.

When Rocky was not working, you could find him fishing his favorite spots in the Keys.

In September of 1995 Rocky retired from the police department.

On March 20, 1999, he married the love of his life, Twink Black.

They enjoyed travelling in their motorhome, taking cruises and visiting their families.

His retirement would be short-lived. In 2001 he re-entered the work force becoming a security officer with Wackenhut, now known as G4S.  He held many positions, including being in charge of posts, road captain and was an instructor for new employees and weapons.

Rocky was a man's man. He had many friends and liked helping people.

Rocky is survived by his wife of over 18 years, Twink (Black) Brown; his brother Robin (Sandra); son Danny; his brothers-in-law Rob and Jamie; and Ginger, his dog.

He will be greatly missed by his many friends.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Diabetes, Heart Association and Animal Rescue.
