Arlyn (Al) Frohling, 80, passed away August 26, 2018 in Bradenton, FL. He was born to Edward and Velma Smith Frohling in Belmond, IA, January 22, 1938, graduated from Belmond High School in 1956 and later from Minnesota State University, Mankato. He served in the U.S. Army, mostly in Evietria, Africa and married Harlene (Holly) Williams in 1963. They are parents of Bill (Veronica) of Owatonna, MN and Kristine of Mankato, grandparents of Zander Frohling and Veronica’s sons Corey & Shawn Schmidt of Minneapolis.
Al was owner of Frohling Insurance Farmers Group for many years in Mankato. He married Diane Kessler Long in 1989 in Urbandale, IA.
In his early retirement years he drove for Greyhound and ADM Trucking in the Des Moines area. After moving to Bradenton, FL in 2007, he enjoyed 7 years of bus and “golf cart” driving for Westminster Communities of Bradenton.
Al is survived by his wife, children, grandsons, and brothers Verlyn (Barbara) of Story City, IA, Jerry (Alice) of Stockton, CA; brother-in-law Dennis (Debra) Kessler of Urbandale, IA; and Diane’s children and grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Living Lord Lutheran Church in Lakewood Ranch, FL at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2018. Interment will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis on October 11, 2018 at 11:45 a.m.
