David Franklin Johnson
Aka “Stinky Dave”
From Snead Island Crab House passed away on 4/28/2017. Dave is preceded by his parents Delmar and Pearl Johnson, along with 3 sisters Nell, Frankie, Mandy. Dave is survived by son’s Ricky, Wayne, and David Jr, and 3 grandchildren. Brothers Buddy, Freddie, Billy, Dean and Thomas. Sisters Mary Jane, Christine, Debbie, and Opal Jean, and lots of nieces, nephews and hundreds of friends. Most of them grew up fishing and seeing Dave every week. Clyde and Lessie McInnis took Dave in as part of their family when he didn’t have a place to go and he loved being on the dock fishing. Dave became a legend at the Snead Island Crab House/Bait Shop. Not a day would go by without a boat going by and someone yelling “Dave” or pulling up to the dock for him to say “Ain’t got none”. Then they would give him a fish and he would tell everyone how he caught it. Dave had the biggest heart and would do anything for anybody. He loved to fish and have fun, and be surrounded by people he loved. He would sing karaoke and his favorite song was “Hello Darlin”. He would always call the ladies “sweetheart”. Dave will be forever missed by all.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 18th from 6 PM until the time of services at 7:30 PM at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, 720 Manatee Ave. West, Bradenton.
