David F. Rothfuss went to meet his late wife Marge (Little) Rothfuss and The Lord on Sunday, August 12, 2018. He passed away at the Blake Medical Center in Bradenton, Florida.
David is survived by his son David Mathes-Rothfuss, his stepson John Little, his stepdaughter Debbie Holman & her husband Randy Holman, and his three grandchildren Krystal Holman, Emily Holman and Nick Holman. He will be sorely missed by Marge's brothers and sisters, whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by his awesome cats, Jim and Jack Rothfuss (The Boys).
David was born in Newark, New Jersey on December 8, 1945, but do not hold his New Jersey roots against him. He was smart enough to ultimately move to Bradenton. He was the son of Walter Rothfuss & Margaret (Wilcox) Rothfuss. He graduated from Upsala College, NJ in 1969 with a degree in Sociology. In 1992, he married Marge Little, the lady of his dreams. He and Marge had the kind of love-filled and heartwarming marriage that was the envy of those around them. David was a beloved fixture of the Manatee County government and the county itself, retiring in 2007 after nearly three decades of highly dedicated and memorable service. To this day the county remembers him dearly. Service to his family and his county were the drivers of his life.
As one of the area's friendliest and most endearing individuals, he could not walk into a Bradenton Publix without a friend or colleague crossing his path and greeting him fondly. He was an avid punster, generating more politically safe but corny wordplay jokes than most. He was truly loved by all despite how very frequently he did this.
A memorial service for David will be held on Friday August 17, 2018 at 7:00pm, at the Griffith-Cline Funeral Home at 720 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton FL, 34205. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cat Depot.
