TILLETT, Frank Benjamin, of Terra Ceia Fla., died Wednesday, January 9th, 2019, at home in Terra Ceia. He was born, September 8th, 1931 in Terra Ceia, Fla. He graduated from Manatee County High School in 1948. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. Following the war, he graduated from Florida State University majoring in Business. In 1956 he married Vera Sullivan of Defuniak Springs. He started teaching English, journalism, and yearbook in 1959. In 1973, Ben and his Family started the Citrus Place, and then in 1979 he stopped teaching and expanded into citrus gift shipping. Ben is survived by his wife, Vera; their two sons Sidney Tillett and Michael Tillett, his wife Julie and six grandsons; Christopher, Carlton, Cameron, Michael (Laura), Anthony (Audrey) and William Tillett. Ben was preceded in death by his parents James William Tillett and Laura McLaughlin, brother Norman, Elmer, Billy, and Roy Tillett. Ben was a kind, loving husband and father. He was a long time member of the Terra Ceia United Methodist Church.
The Family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 15th. A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 16th at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, 720 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton, Florida. There will be a brief memorial at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, Florida.
