Jennie Rose Pratico, age 101, of Ellenton, Florida, passed away peacefully Monday, October 8, 2018 at 7:35 A.M. at Surrey Place Nursing Home in Bradenton, Florida.
She was born October 26, 1916 in Portchester, New York to Catino and Rosaria D'Agostino. She married Lawrence Pratico on November 23, 1938, who preceded her in death in 1970.
She had 4 sisters and one brother who also preceded her in death.
Jennie is survived by her daughter Jean Arnold of Ellenton, Florida, and her son Louis Pratico and his wife Beverly of Parrish, Florida. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and great and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Jennie was a Navy officer's wife for 37 years. Moving from base to base every few years made her an independent wife and mother.
She leaves loving memories for many, many people. From her beautiful antique doll collection to her homemade orangeade from her fruit trees and her ability to take the most unusual items and make crafts out of them. I'm sure there are at least a few family members with her crocheted toilet paper holders sitting on their tank. She loved collecting angels and made many angel Christmas decorations and small angel dolls.
She was a hairdresser for a short time, but she loved doing private nursing and caregiving.
She retired to Bradenton, Florida in 1982 where she made her final home.
A celebration of life will be held at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home in Bradenton, Florida on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 3:00 p.m.
She will be laid to rest with her husband at Los Gatos Cemetery in Los Gatos, California.
