John E. Fitzgerald, Sr.February 27, 1926 ~ October 30, 2017 (age 91)
John Edward Fitzgerald Senior, 91, died October 30th, 2017 after a brief illness.
Born in Orlando, Florida on February 27th, 1926, John was raised in Palmetto and graduated from Palmetto High School then joined the US Army Air Corps and served during the WWII campaign.
After graduating Rollins College, John joined Fruit Industries, the forerunner of Tropicana Products, in 1952. He enjoyed a career spanning 60 years. Retiring briefly after 40 years as Director of Logistics, Tropicana Senior Leadership enlisted John to return for a second career that lasted 20 years as a Project Consultant.
He provided years of prophetic vision and tireless leadership that contributed significantly to the tremendous growth and success of Tropicana products.
John was respected and admired as a man having the courage of his convictions. In addition, he was a well-respected community figure, mentor and hero who forged untold relationships; he taught many people what being a man of your word, honesty, integrity and perseverance really means. He was a proud father who raised a family of good citizens.
John enjoyed working, military history and classic Mustangs
He was preceded in death by parents John R. and Anna E. Fitzgerald, his sister Mary Ruth Fitzgerald, wife Martha Jo Fitzgerald.
He is survived by daughters Fran Young and Mimmi-Shawn Fitzgerald, sons John E Fitzgerald Jr. and J. Eric Fitzgerald, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be November 11th at 10AM at the Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, 720 Manatee Ave West, Bradenton, Fla 34205
